China"s passenger car market saw sales of 1.92 million units in September, a year-on-year increase of 21.5 percent, driven particularly by new energy vehicles (NEVs), the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said in a statement on Tuesday, while also noting that government policies have helped in boosting consumer confidence.
However, growth of retail sales on a monthly basis slowed to a 20-year low in September, standing at 2.8 percent. In the first three quarters, a total of 14.87 million cars are sold in China, a year-on-year increase of 2.4 percent, the CPCA said.
NEV sales have been a remarkable driving force for the domestic car market, exemplified by the latest car sales data for September. The wholesale figures for NEV manufacturers in September came to 675,000 units, an increase of nearly 95 percent compared with the same period last year, partly due to an increase in production capacity, the release of new products and policy factors, the association said.
BYD soldjust over 200,000vehicles for the first time, while Tesla delivered a new monthly record of 83,135 cars afterupgradingproduction capacity at its Shanghai gigafactory, including 5,522 for overseas markets.
The effect of policies such as halving the car purchase tax has been conspicuous in terms of boosting consumer confidence, resulting in the retail sales achieving high year-on-year growth, the association said.
The resilient production has backed up the sales, consolidating China"s place as a world leading car production hub. Official data show that about 1.91 million Chinese vehicles were exported from January to August, up 44 percent year-on-year, surpassing those of Germany, as exports of NEVs almost doubled in the period.
Chinese automakers are accelerating their moves abroad. BYD and Nio both announced plans to bring more models to the European market in recent weeks, joining hands with well-known European car rental firms to launch subscription service in Europe. BYD signed a cooperation agreement with vehicle lessor SIXT, which will purchase at least 100,000 NEVs from the carmaker over the next six years.
10月11日，乘联会发布2022年9月份全国乘用车市场分析，2022年9月乘用车市场零售达到192.2万辆，同比增长21.5%，增长较快；环比增长2.8%，环比增速处于近20年同期历史低位。1-9月累计零售1487.5万辆，同比增长2.4%，同比净增35.5万辆，其中6-9月同比净增143万辆，增量贡献巨大。
新能源车市场方面，供给改善叠加油价上浮预期带来市场火爆，油价上涨而电价锁定，带动电动车订单表现火爆。9月的新能源车与传统燃油车环比走势都受到政策推动明显。各地出台鼓励消费政策力度大，主流车企生产持续拉升，改变了淡季规律，进一步拉动9月车市火爆。
9月新能源乘用车批发销量达到67.5万辆，同比增长94.9%，环比增长6.2%；零售销量达到61.1万辆，同比增长82.9%，环比增14.7%，1-9月新能源乘用车国内零售387.7万辆，同比增长113.2%；批发434.1万辆，同比增长115.4%，形成趋势性上升走势。
数据还显示，特斯拉中国9月以83135辆交付成绩，刷新单月历史新高，环比增长8%。其中，Model Y销量51802辆，列总体乘用车销量头名，与比亚迪宋的46475辆，五菱宏光MINIEV的44711辆，位列总体乘用车销量前三位。
除了国内市场持续升温，我国汽车出口也开出了“加速度”。据海关总署数据，今年1~8月我国汽车出口量191万辆，同比增长47.5%，这一数字已经接近去年全年的出口量，超越了德国的汽车出口量，仅次于日本。其中，新能源汽车成为了当之无愧的增长引擎，1~8月我国新能源汽车累计出口34万辆，同比增长97.4%。
近期，蔚来、比亚迪等多家国产车企纷纷宣布进入德国等欧盟国家市场，这些车企仍旧选择了以新能源汽车入局。9月下旬以来，比亚迪、蔚来接连公布进军欧洲的具体计划。值得注意的是，这两家公司不仅仅专注于向欧洲普通用户售卖产品。其中，比亚迪与汽车租赁公司SIXT签署合作协议，SIXT将在未来6年内向比亚迪采购至少10万辆新能源车。首批数千辆比亚迪纯电汽车将于今年第四季度开始交付，第一阶段合作市场包括德国、英国、法国以及荷兰。
Chinese entrepreneurs and bankers have become more upbeat about the macroeconomy, with both macroeconomic heat indexes climbed quarter on quarter, according to the latest central bank surveys. In the third quarter, the entrepreneur macroeconomic heat index stood at 26.9 percent, while the bankers" macroeconomic heat index reversed a downward trend to reach 19.9 percent, up 2.1 percentage points from the second quarter, said the People"s Bank of China (PBOC). Of the over 5,000 industrial companies surveyed nationwide, 52.2 percent considered the macroeconomic climate "normal," up from 51.5 percent in April-June.
After interviewing some 20,000 depositors in 50 cities across the country, the central bank found that more urban residents have seen increased income in the past quarter. The income sentiment index for the third quarter was 47 percent, up 2.5 percentage points from the previous quarter, while the income confidence index was 0.8 percentage points higher at 46.5 percent.
央行公布三季度问卷调查结果：10月9日，中国人民银行发布2022年第三季度针对企业家、银行家和城镇储户的最新问卷调查报告，总体来看，受访者对中国经济持续平稳发展的信心提高，对中国经济“升温”的预期增强。其中，企业家宏观经济热度指数为26.9%，比上季度上升0.4个百分点。这是中国央行对全国5000多户工业企业调查后所呈现的结果。银行业方面，今年第三季度，央行针对全国银行家的问卷调查结果显示，银行家宏观经济热度指数为19.9%，比上季度上升2.1个百分点，实现了由降转升。城镇储户方面，三季度，人民银行在全国50个城市进行了2万户城镇储户问卷调查，结果显示：本季城镇储户收入感受指数为47.0%，比上季度上升2.5个百分点。收入信心指数为46.5%，比上季上升0.8个百分点。
Greater Bay Area, Greater future新使命，大未来
Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said the city shouldn’t take a back seat to Singapore as a global financial centre, even as Singapore surpassed Hong Kong in a recent global ranking. In a blog posted Sunday, Chan defended Hong Kong’s “clear” competitive advantages in financial services, equity markets and green finance. Last year, the Hong Kong stock market’s value exceeded HK$42 trillion, seven times higher than that in Singapore, and the number of listed companies on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange was nearly three times of Singapore’s. The issuance of green and sustainable-linked bonds reached US$31.3 billion, accounting for one-third of the total in the Asian market.

The population of China’s eastern regions, where many major cities and manufacturing hubs are based, has grown rapidly over the past ten years due to population inflows from other parts of the country, according to a report by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday. The number of people living in East China has swelled by 2.1 percentage points from 2010. In particular, the population of the Greater Bay Area has increased by 35 percent and that of the Yangtze River Delta by 12 percent.

The number of enterprises in China rose from more than 13 million to more than 51 million in the past decade, close to the number of US and EU companies combined, data released by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) showed on Monday. As of the end of August 2022, China added over 100 million registered market entities to reached 163 million, compared with 55 million at the end of 2012, with an average annual growth rate of 12 percent, the administration said.

Tencent Holdings has scrapped plans to buy Blackshark Technologies, China’s leading maker of gaming phones, as it decided to compensate for its shortcomings in the hardware field by hiking investment in software and technologies instead, media reported on Monday. Tencent invested in Xiaomi-backed Blackshark, but the phone-maker did not use all the money in research and development, sources said, adding that the company also gave up on the deal because of the strict supervision on acquisitions by internet firms.

Chinese battery giant CATL said Monday it expects its net profit in the first three quarters to have exceeded that of last year because of the rapid development of the new energy, power battery, and energy storage markets. Net profit likely soared between 113 percent and 132 percent to 16.5 billion and 18 billion yuan in the nine months ended Sept. 30, versus 16 billion yuan in 2021.
宁德时代预计三季度盈利近百亿：10日晚间，宁德时代发布公告，预计前三季度实现归母净利润165亿元-180亿元，同比增长112.87%-132.22%；其中第三季度预计为88亿元-98亿元，同比增长169.33%-199.94%。以此计算，宁德时代第三季度预计实现净利润超过第一季度与第二季度之和，创单季最好成绩。
China’s largest container shipping company COSCO Shipping Holdings said Monday that it expects net profit to have soared 44 percent to reach 97.2 billion yuan in the first nine months.

The size of the Shanghai Stock Exchange has reached 49 trillion yuan, a nearly twofold increase in the past ten years, ranking the third largest stock market in the world, a CSRC official said Tuesday. Its bond market has raised nearly 34 trillion yuan, making it the largest bond exchange in the world. Total turnover on the Shanghai Futures Exchange has reached 107 trillion yuan this year, 3.2 times that of the same period in 2012.
上交所股市规模10年增长近2倍：上海证监局副局长王登勇11日表示，目前，上海证券交易所股票市场规模达49万亿元，十年来增长近2倍，从全球第七位跃居第三位；债券市场累计融资近34万亿元，成为全球最大的交易所债券市场。今年以来，上海期货交易所累计成交额107万亿元，是2012年同期的3.2倍。
China’s central bank recently extended for three years a bilateral currency swap with the European Central Bank (ECB) worth 350 billion yuan or 45 billion euros, according to a statement from the People"s Bank of China on Monday. The PBOC said the renewal would help deepen bilateral financial cooperation, facilitate trade and investment, and maintain the stability of the financial market.
中欧央行续签双边本币互换协议：据央行官网10日消息，近日，中国人民银行与欧洲中央银行续签了双边本币互换协议，互换规模保持不变，为3500亿元人民币/450亿欧元，协议有效期3年。中国人民银行表示，中欧双边本币互换协议再次续签，有助于进一步深化双方金融合作，促进双边贸易和投资便利化，维护金融市场稳定。
Wrapping up with a quick look at the stock market股市收盘情况
Chinese shares closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite gaining 0.19 percent and the Shenzhen Component rose 0.53 percent. Hong Kong’s stock market sank to its lowest level in 11 years, with the benchmark Hang Seng plunging 2.23 percent to below 17,000 points and the TECH index dived 3.55 percent.
